Data sharing and information blocking

Patient with nurse

Make patient information available where and when it’s needed most.

For decades, Cerner has been a leading advocate for the unimpeded exchange of health information giving patients access to a digital, longitudinal health record.

Despite the great strides over the past decade of digitizing health care records, barriers remain in enabling the free flow and exchange of information.

Patients should have the right to access the health care information their providers have about them and dictate where they want it to go.

Let’s work together to improve data exchange for healthcare providers and patients.
At Cerner, we enable more than 1B transactions per month through interoperable exchange from one entity to another. This work includes health information exchange (HIE) transactions, CommonWell, electronic prescribing and direct messaging with providers. We have been a trusted leader of data security and interoperability for more than 40 years and are committed to protecting the privacy and security of patient data.

  • Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM)
We are also involved in interoperability accelerators and initiatives, such as:

Connecting regionally and nationally

We enable any provider organization to connect with any health information exchange (HIE) of their choice. We also help participants to connect within eHealth Exchange and with other networks. Along these lines, we are also a founding member of the CommonWell Health Alliance, where we have leadership roles in advancing new use cases and capabilities.
