The Value of Collaborating to Share Data

Published on 5/4/2017

Sharing data is crucial to advancing patient care. Interoperability is the crux of many national health care discussions, but the path to becoming fully interoperable first begins by exchanging information within a health care organization's local or regional community. Collaborating and exchanging information with fellow clinics or hospitals down the street can help to jumpstart the progress toward interoperability. This is exactly what Circle Health, a not-for-profit acute facility headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, did to support their goal of being the best community hospital possible.

When Circle Health went live with CommonWell services, they quickly realized how much their providers and patient population would benefit by being able to share data with all organizations in their community. Ultimately, by sharing information with the surrounding practices their patients visit, Circle Health is contributing to a holistic vision for the health and care of the person and improving the patient experience.
