Technology managed services

Healthcare informatics solutions

The digital maturity level of healthcare organizations has significantly increased over the last 10 years. Clinical practice across venues of care is ever-more reliant on enabling IT solutions and applications. As a result, clinical workflows have evolved and brought new IT challenges for healthcare organizations to deal with. Today’s heterogeneous or best-of-breed environments within healthcare IT mean it’s often difficult for organizations to ensure standardization of end users’ methods of accessing various software platforms. Our decades of experience recommend a three-stage approach: discovery, transformation and adoption.

Move towards your EHR goals by solving one problem at a time and at pace.

Our data-driven optimization approach helps you to identify opportunities to advance, enact the changes and measure the progress you’re making towards your targets. Focusing on technology and behavior changes help produce the most efficient, effective and satisfied users.

Remote Hosting Option (RHO)

Cerner has been in the remote hosting business for over 35 years. Over 90% of Cerner’s new clients are electing the RHO approach for their EHR.

With this managed service offering model, Cerner would remotely house, administer and manage the Cerner suite for EHR solutions. RHO provides the technology infrastructure, OS and required layered software (OS, database, Citrix, etc.), installation of software and resources to support remotely hosted solutions. Clients access solutions and data by communicating with the hosting facility via a secure, highly available wide-area network using dedicated telecommunication circuits or a secured VPN leveraging the internet. Cerner assumes responsibility for the performance, availability and security of the system, all backed by service-level guarantees for system availability.

RHO provides superior performance, security, reliability and scalability with a lower up-front financial commitment from the client by combining hardware, networking technologies and technical expertise. It allows healthcare organizations to leverage the most sophisticated and powerful IT solutions available today. RHO can provide significant cost-savings and competitive advantages. It helps avoid depreciation and obsolescence of hardware and frees the client’s IT department to focus on their core business of providing quality healthcare.

The MTO service is a managed service offering available in some global markets to provide an increased level of technology service where Cerner does not offer full hosting services. The MTO offering includes many of the advantages that Cerner’s RHO service provides, leveraging the same RHO system management, monitoring toolset and technology resources. With the MTO offering, clients provide and control the necessary data center facility and any onsite resources needed for physical system installation and any ongoing hands-on server management. We provide and own the Cerner Millennium® system hardware and will be responsible for the infrastructure level management (services delivered remotely). Clients are responsible to provide end-user devices needed to support Cerner Millennium solutions.

Cerner’s OMS offering provides remote system management and monitoring for client-hosted Cerner Millennium and other ancillary solution systems. The service emphasizes proactive systems monitoring and management, resulting in improved reliability and availability for Cerner applications. Monitoring offers 24x7 monitoring via Olympus, BMC Patrol (third-party tool), and other industry standard tools. This service leverages the same system management and monitoring toolset and skilled technical resources that Cerner’s RHO service utilizes. The OMS service is often a first step that clients take to experiencing the benefits of Cerner’s managed services. Many OMS service clients continue their relationship by extending the alignment to full RHO services.

Cerner’s IMS offering provides remote system management and monitoring for underlying IT infrastructure for client-hosted Cerner Millennium and other ancillary solution systems. The infrastructure monitoring and management services are offered for compute, storage and backup technologies. The service emphasizes proactive infrastructure monitoring and management for reliable and optimized Cerner Millennium performance and stability. This service utilizes Cerner’s worldwide experience and skill set for data center operations and management. This service leverages the same system management and monitoring toolset and skilled technical resources as Cerner’s RHO service. The IMS services complements OMS and maximizes the benefits of Cerner managed service offerings for client-hosted systems.
