Shared Domains

Striving for efficiency

Digitalisation is not something you have to do alone. Cerner will support you every stage of the way, while you can also enter into it with another progressive organisation though domain sharing. It’s an option that is increasingly being utilised as organisations recognise the need for electronic health records (EHRs), and can offer benefits for clinicians and patients, as well as providing considerable financial savings.

The sharing of one common instance of Cerner Millennium®, or database, maintains Cerner’s one patient, one record approach across multiple organisations. The single instance is then designed and maintained as a common platform with a largely common workflow design, allowing clients to determine the extent to which the display of patient information and workflows are segregated between organisations.

The key to the success of a shared domain strategy is a strong strategic alignment between the organisations at executive, clinical and IT levels, underpinned by a robust governance structure and resilient change control processes. We work with our clients to help them understand the intricacies of sharing a domain, and support them to build this alignment, establish governance and maintain momentum towards project delivery and achieving demonstrable value.
