This World Sepsis Day, over 20,000 people will die from the condition, including 120 in the UK, and according to the Dr Foster research unit at Imperial College London, more deaths from sepsis are being reported.
As a patient’s symptoms are assessed, the algorithm calculates the Modified Early Warning System (MEWS)/National Early Warning System (NEWS)/Paediatric Early Warning System (PEWS) score based on patient age, and alerts clinicians that they are potentially at risk.
