In the fight against COVID-19, Cerner is assisting the hospitals and helping them where necessary. In the i.s.h.med hospitals, the first vaccinations will soon be administered. For each patient, two COVID-19 vaccinations must be registered, and these must be passed on to the RIVM (Dutch Institute for Public Health and the Environment) by the hospitals for state analysis purposes. This gives the RIVM insight into the numbers of vaccinated people at the relevant location and information that is used for policy choices. It also allows the RIVM to determine the vaccination coverage and effectiveness of the vaccine in the fight against COVID-19.

In anticipation of this, Cerner has developed a high priority vaccine registration form that allows hospitals to register COVID-19 vaccinations directly in i.s.h.med and then submit them in one go to BRBA.nl, the RIVM web application. This saves a considerable amount of time and prevents 'double registration'.

In the VsapGZ ICT Council, appreciation was expressed for Cerner's prompt action and the added value that the registration form provides to the hospitals. In the coming period, it is estimated that more than 750,000 vaccinations will be carried out by the hospitals.
