Cerner’s ability to bring innovative healthcare technology to market relies on the varying perspectives and contributions of people from all backgrounds. The company is committed to taking actionable steps, both internally and externally, to advance diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) across our global workforce. These contributions are being recognized and celebrated nationally.

America’s Best Employers for Women – named by Forbes

Cerner was named to the Forbes list of “America's Best Employers for Women 2021,” ranking at 179 out 300 employers, for gender equity in hiring and retention practices that directly benefit female employees. Cerner works to attract and retain female associates through offering competitive benefits including a hybrid workforce model, on-site daycares, support for backup child care and eldercare and fertility benefits. Also in 2021, Cerner was named a “Best Place to Work for Moms” by Fatherly and Scary Mommy.

A Champion of Diversity – named by Kansas City Chamber of Commerce

On July 28, the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce named Cerner its 2021“Champion of Diversity.” Each year, the local Chamber recognizes a single business for its commitment to embracing diversity in its workplace, through vendor partnerships and in the local community. This year, Cerner was recognized for its inclusive and engaging organizational practices, making workforce diversity a strategic initiative and advancing the diversification of staff and community outreach.

Founded more than 40 years ago in Kansas City, this recognition from the business community reinforces the importance of Cerner’s work to not only advance our associates’ efforts, but partnerships throughout the metropolitan area.

Engaging Cerner Associates – even during COVID-19

Building on the sense of community during a pandemic presented its challenges, but associates found new ways to come together to further DEI efforts and enhance their cultural worldview. The company’s DEI program and eight Associate Business Resource Groups (ABRGs) provide many resources for associates to enhance their awareness of cultures and cultural events around the world. More than 7,000 associates participated in more than 70 events and activities, creating a more collaborative environment for people with similar backgrounds, even during a pandemic.

I’m proud of these efforts and all of the work being done behind the scenes to make Cerner – and our communities – better for everyone. Increasing diversity, equity and inclusion continues to be among the company’s highest priorities. Support for diversity within Cerner is a key foundation of our culture.

As we look ahead to the future, there’s no doubt that we are better together.
