Four new CommunityWorks clients aim to drive innovation and accelerate growth with Cerner technology

Cerner Corporation announced new clients in South Dakota, Louisiana, New Mexico and Nebraska will upgrade to CommunityWorks, a cloud-based delivery model of the Cerner Millennium® electronic health record (EHR) tailored to community and Critical Access Hospitals.

Some traditional doctor’s office and hospital visits have turned to virtual or physically distant in person support. Throughout the challenges in health care in 2020, Cerner associates have remained fiercely dedicated to furthering our client’s success,” said Mitchell Clark, president, CommunityWorks, Cerner. “It has been a pleasure to work with our newest clients, and we are proud to welcome them to our growing CommunityWorks family.”

CommunityWorks provides an integrated digital record of a patient’s health history that includes clinical and financial data across the continuum of care. Through this model, Cerner can scale traditional solutions and services to provide an economical business model for mid-size to smaller rural hospitals with a predictable technology spend.

Below are additional details about each new client:

• Huron Regional Medical Center (HRMC), a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital in Huron, SD, has signed an agreement to use Cerner across multiple facilities. Between their main HRMC facility, a women’s health and physicians’ clinic, HRMC is the fourth largest employer in Beadle County with more than 300 employees. HRMC serves a population of more than 37,000 across seven counties in eastern-central South Dakota.

• Rehoboth McKinley Christian Health Care Services (RMCH) is a 69-bed community hospital located in rural McKinley County, NM. In addition to CommunityWorks, Rehoboth will become one of Cerner’s first home health and hospice clients utilizing Matrix Care/BrighTree to make coordinated in-home care more widely available to residents. Additionally, RMCH will use Cerner’s CareAware® Nursing Mobility platform to improve collaboration between clinicians. RMCH leadership teams say they’re proud to bring in advanced technology to better serve patients in McKinley County, which includes parts of the Navajo Nation and the Zuni Pueblo.

• James Parish Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital in Lutcher, LA, which is located about an hour West of New Orleans. St. James looks to unite the parish by being the community’s first choice for health and wellness needs by leading innovation to provide more convenient and advanced care. The hospital chose Cerner to deliver a comprehensive technology suite to help providers deliver more coordinated care for patients.

• Syracuse Area Health (SAH) located in Syracuse, NE, is a 10-bed CAH with two rural health clinics and a newly acquired orthopedic clinic. Located about 30-minutes southeast of Lincoln, this hospital has a rich history of providing high quality, cost effective health care to surrounding communities. SAH will move to Cerner throughout its new, state-of-the art hospital, opened in November 2018.
