Published on 10/4/2017

Integrated clinical, financial and operational data working together can help optimize workflows and control costs. In these five Revenue Cycle Management sessions at Cerner Health Conference 2017, we'll explore how health care organizations are successfully managing their business today and in the future.

1. Beyond Price Transparency: How Consumerism Impacts Provider Organizations in the New Era of Health Care (Session #1016)

Joseph Fifer, president and chief executive officer, Healthcare Financial Management Association

In a time when consumers are paying more out-of-pocket for their health care, business-as-usual is a prescription for losing market share, patient loyalty and organizational good will. The "business of care" is not just B2B anymore. In this session, Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) president and chief executive officer Joseph Fifer will discuss why savvy provider organizations should look at consumers in a new light and share strategies for success in an era when the balance of power is shifting to consumers.

Fifer is president and chief executive officer of the HFMA, which provides the resources health care organizations need to achieve sound fiscal health in order to provide excellent patient care. Prior to joining HFMA in 2012, Fifer spent 11 years as vice president of hospital finance at Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids, Mich.
